WHAT IS CUPPING?
Cupping is a therapeutic TCM treatment that uses glass cups placed on the skin to create gentle suction. This suction increases blood flow, releases muscle tension, and encourages the movement of fluids within the body, supporting natural healing processes. It is often experienced as deeply relaxing, while also helping to reduce pain and stiffness, particularly in the back, neck, and shoulders.
Cupping can also support respiratory health, making it beneficial for conditions such as colds, coughs, congestion, and asthma. Many patients find it helpful for reducing stress, easing fatigue, improving circulation, and supporting recovery after illness or physical strain. The distinctive marks left by cupping are temporary and indicate increased circulation to the area. By improving flow and relieving tension, cupping enhances mobility and contributes to a greater sense of balance, relaxation, and overall wellbeing.
WHAT IS MOXA?
Moxibustion is a gentle, warming therapy that involves burning a small amount of dried mugwort (a traditional medicinal herb) near specific points on the body. The heat is carefully applied to penetrate deeply into the tissues, helping to improve circulation, support immune function, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes. It is commonly used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and ease muscle stiffness and tension.
Moxibustion is particularly beneficial for conditions associated with cold, low energy, or poor circulation, such as digestive discomfort, fatigue, and menstrual irregularities. It is also widely used in women’s health to support hormonal balance, fertility, and pregnancy care, including turning breech babies in some cases. The treatment is deeply soothing and strengthening, helping to restore warmth, vitality, and resilience.
